    Celebrities are celebrating history after the Senate confirmed Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court Thursday, making her the first Black woman to sit on the bench as a Supreme Court justice.

    The Senate voted 53-47 to confirm Jackson, a U.S. appeals court judge for the D.C. district. Three Republicans – Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Mitt Romney of Utah – joined all 50 Democratic senators to confirm the 116th justice. She will replace retiring Justice Stephen Breyer.

    Jackson also makes history as the first federal public defender to sit for the lifetime appointment.

    Once the news spread of her confirmation, celebrities took to social media to commemorate the special moment, using the hashtags #SheWillRise and #InKBJWeTrust.
